Kushika produces on average 1-2 litters per annum, with major focuses on continual breed improvement closely in adherence with the Breed Standard, in conjunction with maintaining sound temperament and health. We put an enormous amount of research into all our breeding plans and chose our stud dogs on their compatability to our dams, not their proximity to where we live. As a result we have used dogs from many states in Australia to continue to strengthen our lines. We are a registered breeder with the Australian National Kennel Council [ANKC]. All breeding stock is hip and elbow x-rayed and scored using the AVA Willis Scheme, and litters are bred in accordance within the rules and regulations of our State ANKC body, Dogs SA. A recognised breeder of the Rhodesian Ridgeback Club of South Australia, we are further bound by theirCode of Ethics specific for our breed.

Our puppies are born in a heated whelping box and lovingly reared in our home. Once they start on solid food around 4 weeks, they have access to outside for toileting and they learn very quickly. As they get older, and more active, they are moved to larger grassed play areas in the day, but always sleep in the house at night. Our puppies are vet checked at birth, regularly wormed at 2,4,6 and 8 weeks of age and vaccinated and vet checked at 6 weeks. We spend many hours handling and interacting with our puppies and introducing them to a wide range of stimuli to aid in their growth and development, ensuring they mature into well-adjusted ambassadors of the breed.

Puppies are ready for their new homes at 8 weeks of age and are sold with a detailed contract designed to protect the vendor and purchaser, but most importantly the welfare of the puppy. All limited register puppies are sold either spayed/neutered or with a written contract to do so by the age of 12 months. Occasionally we do have show potential puppies available to approved homes.
